Upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy
procedures and liver biopsy are performed in our unit when deemed necessary for
the diagnosis of the diseases listed above.
Endoscopy is performed under operating room conditions with an endoscopy device
that is suitable for children. The patient, who is anesthetized with
intravenous medicines by the anesthesiologist, does not feel any pain and does
not remember the procedure. After upper and lower gastrointestinal system
endoscopy, patients can be sent home after a few hours of observation.
Liver biopsy may be required for the diagnosis of liver diseases due to various
reasons. In the procedure that can be performed from the newborn period, the
patient is put to sleep under the conditions described above, and liver tissue
with a thickness of 1 mm and a length of 1-2 cm is removed with biopsy needles
suitable to the patient's age. After the procedure, the patient is hospitalized
and followed up in the hospital for 24 hours.
