The main diseases and conditions treated in our Group Florence Nightingale Neuroradiology Unit can be listed as follows:
- Treatment of vascular diseases through intravenous (endovascular way): Cerebral vascular bubbles (aneurysm), abnormal clumping of arteries and veins (arteriovenous malformations), leaks between arteries and veins (arterio and venous fistulas)
- Treatment of head and brain vessels stenosis: Balloon expansion and/or stenting.
- Early treatment of stroke: Removal of the occluded vessel (thrombectomy) or opening with aspiration.
Stopping bleeding with early intervention in head and neck trauma.
Intervention in vascular structure disorders in the head and neck region, giving chemotherapy to the tumor in pediatric retinoblastoma
These methods are generally used as an alternative to open surgery applications and are performed intravenously by entering from the groin with the angiography method.
Interventional neuroradiological applications can be combined with surgical or irradiation methods to relieve some diseases such as brain arteriovenous malformations.
In some cases, it is also possible to assist surgery with these methods before surgical treatment in order to eliminate diseases.
