Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Eye Health Department treats eye diseases and disorders with technical infrastructure and equipment parallel with the latest developments in the world.
In our Eye Health Center; myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia are treated with excimer laser and lasik. The laser surgery procedure lasık, approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has been performed all over the world since the 1980s. Eye disorders such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are eliminated with this procedure. Refractive surgery refers to laser practices and surgeries performed to correct refractive errors in people. Our center uses a laser device that applies the "flying spot" technology, which is considered to be the most advanced technological stage of the excimer laser in refractive surgery. Cataract treatment is also performed with the phacoemulsification (FAKO) device.
Which Diseases are Treated?
- Sudden vision loss,
- Vision defects,
- Eye tension (Glaucoma)
- Eye injuries and treatments,
- Keratoconus (Corneal straightening),
- Dry eye disease (Dry eye),
- Retinal diseases,

Cross Eyes (Strabismus)
- The problem of not being able to see close-by due to age (Presbyopia).
Which Departments are Included?
Glaucoma Department: in glaucoma, vision is threatened as a result of the gradual damage to the optic nerve and can cause vision loss if left untreated. It occurs most often due to high eye pressure. Comprehensive glaucoma treatment can be provided in our Eye Health Department. In this context; first of all, the eye pressure of the patient is reduced by either reducing the production of the fluid in the eye or increasing its output. The medications used for these two procedures are taken every day at regular intervals and used for life. If using the medication treatment the patient's eye pressure does not decrease and the visual field is narrowed, surgery will be considered. In glaucoma; by opening a small hole in the white part of the eye that is not visible from the outside, excess fluid in the eye is drained. Mostly, glaucoma disease disappears after surgery. However, surgical treatment of glaucoma is not possible for every patient. In our Eye Health Department, laser treatment can also be used in the treatment of eye pressure when necessary.
Cross Eye Department: the situation where both eyes do not look in the same direction and lose their parallelism with each other is called "cross eye". There are 6 extraocular muscles in each eye. The lack or excess of strength in one or more of them causes cross eyes. While one eye is looking straight, the other can slide in, out, up or down. In some cases, crossing may be seen in both eyes. This condition is called strabismus.
Since cross eyes are caused by many reasons, treatment also varies from person to person. Glasses, cover treatments, orthoptic treatment, surgical intervention and botox treatments can be performed.
Pediatric Ophthalmology Department: in Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Eye Health Department, defects such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, cross eye, eye laziness, congenital tear duct obstruction, congenital cataracts and glaucoma are successfully treated in children.
If a child watches the television very closely, reads the book by getting very close, constantly blinks and squints his eyes, tries to see with the other eye by closing or squinting one eye, it is important that it is to be examined immediately, and if the vision impairment and refractive errors are diagnosed, it is important to start the necessary treatment with glasses. If there is continuous watering and burring in the eyes of the newborn baby, it should be taken into account that the tear ducts may be blocked congenitally or due to an infection. Eye drops are used by massaging the tear sac, in tear duct obstructions. If watering and burring do not improve, the tear duct must be opened under anesthesia. Whiteness in the pupil of the newborn baby often suggests many retinal diseases, including congenital cataracts or intraocular tumor. This condition may be in one eye or in both eyes and often requires early surgery.
Neuro-ophthalmology Department: diagnosis and treatment of diseases caused by the eye (optic) nerve are performed in this department. The visual pathways, which are the process from the optic nerve to the visual center in the brain where vision occurs, is also within the specialty of neuro-ophthalmology. This department, which serves within the scope of the Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Eye Health Department, also deals with diseases that are manifested by the inconsistent movement of the eyes.
Cataract and Refractive Surgery Department: cataract can only be treated surgically. Cataract, which can be removed surgically when it affects daily activities, the surgery is performed painlessly without requiring general anesthesia, and the patient can be discharged on the same day. In our Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Eye Health Department; under drop anesthesia methods, cataract surgery is performed in a very short time without pain, using the FAKO method, and clear vision can be achieved by placing a collepsable intraocular lens in the eye . Further, in cases of high myopia (-10 and above), defects that are too high to be corrected by laser can be corrected by changing the transparent lens. In our Eye Health Department, the lens that has lost its transparency is broken in the eye with the help of a special device that emits ultrasonic sound waves, and then it is absorbed and removed. This event takes place in an area of 2-2.5 mm. An artificial lens called "intraocular lens" is placed in the are from where the lens that has lost its transparency has been removed .
Retina Section: diseases that occur in the retina, which is the web of vision cells that cover the back wall of the eyeball in the form of wallpaper, directly threaten our sense of vision. AT our Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Eye Health Department; retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, retinal damage due to vascular occlusion, retinal tears, detachment, intraocular bleeding, are successfully treated. Age-related visual focus disorders are also diagnosed using eye angiography (FFA) and eye tomography (OCT). Vitrectomy and detachment surgery are performed when necessary. Diabetes patients and small retinal tears are treated using argon laser.
